If you want to be be involved with an organization that truly cares about your well-being, then SCCC is the organization that you would want to be a part of . From the beginning of your experience with SCCC you can feel the sincerity. In whatever capacity SCCC can assist you with they will, from coming bye, to washing dishes to always having a listening ear. I found SCCC to bring peace in the midst of a storm.
I would love to let everyone know about my experience with SCCC. My husband of fifty years was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. We thought that I could handle being his Caregiver and I agreed. I thought my love and prayers would be enough to make it through this rough patch in our lives. I had heard of SCCC but really thought it did’nt apply to me, I did’nt know what was ahead of me. Now I had family support one hundred percent but it was during those midnight hours that I was most fatigued. I was sitting in the hospital with my husband and in walked Sonya ! She sat with me while I cried (tears that I refuse to show my love ones) she listened and held me close and explained just what SCCC is all about and scheduled a home visit. The welcoming package with everything I could possibly need was beautiful !!! Sonya appeared at Doctors’ appointments and was just there. Just the presence of another person full of love and concern was just what I needed. And, there were many such visits. I didnt feel like a failure in taking care of my husband because someone was there taking care of me! Thank you SCCC for all that you have done for me and I highly recommend your services to the community.
Life is funny, you never know what perils and tribulation life’s journey is going to take you. There are so many things that we take for granted, such as good health. It’s only when it happens to you or a loved one, that you understand what its like to have a life-threatening challenge; taking you totally out of your comfort zone.
One day I was making plans with my best friend to go on a cruise and enjoy life after her retirement. We were so engrossed in the process of vacation planning that she totally ignored the pain that was in her leg and lower back. We went to a chiropractor to have an adjustment thinking things would be okay to only later find out that the pain was bone cancer in the fourth stage. When I tell you that it was one of the worst devastations of my life. I don’t think i’ve ever felt so powerless in my entire life.
Sonya and SCCC connected with me and she walked me through one of the most painful times in my life. She listened, she cared and she assisted. The thing that I like about SCCC the most is that it conforms to whatever the individual’s need is. Every token of love is different depending upon what the Caregiver is going through. The loss of my very best friend was catastrophic. Her agency assisted me in every way from pulling me out of the equation and taking me out to dinner and movies to get the situation off my mind, to praying with me. I know that SCCC is an agency but, my perspective, it is a ministry as well. God gave her an enormous gifting. Her personal battle with Cancer which could have been interpreted as something negative, transformed into an entity of Love and compassion for those who need a helping hand and a listening ear during difficult times. I have no doubts or reservations that the agency will grow as high as the mountain tops, because it was derived form love, compassion and the spirit of helpfulness. Thank you so much for your support.
I don’t think that I can say enough about SCCC and how their helping hands and support has captured me. The organization is remarkable in that not only do they assist you with your needs, but they actually stick around until the bitter end to make sure that you are going to be alright.
My mother is stricken with the terrible disease of Cancer and it has been a whirl wind. SCCC has lightened the load by firstly, giving me a clue of what to expect. Sonya tells it like it is; she is a no-nonsense lady that wants to consider the Caregiver in more ways than one. SCCC will listen to your ranting and let you know that it is alright to feel the way you do, and that you have the right to feel that way. Secondly, SCCC will do what is necessary to make sure the Caregiver is taken care of. I have been truly blessed by ever knowing SCCC. I would recommend SCCC to any one!
It was a miracle for me: I am visually impaired. It was extremely difficult for me to make the travel back and forth to the hospital. SCCC made it seamless and stress free getting back and forth to be with my sister Norma Jean who has since passed away. Sonya made the care of my sister not as hard as it could have been. She was an awesome listener and a fun gal to be around. I honestly looked forward to our meeting days. She would take me out and we would have a ball. SCCC was truly a God-Send to me, I will never forget the love and support that I recieved from SCCC. May God continue to bless that organization. Thank you for all that you did for me..
We would like to thank Sonya Thomas for all that she has done for our family. You are a true blessing and came into our lives when we needed you most. The funny thing is we didn’t realize we needed you at the time being, because of how strong, independent and close knit the women in this family are; but you showed us that even the strong ones fall apart sometimes and need an extra hand or shoulder to cry on. Thank you for being there and showing us nothing but love and respect. You are now a part of our family and you will never get away, lol. Love you girl
